Ingredients
·
Toor dal/arhar dal (yellow lentils) – 1 cup
·
Onion – 1 chopped
·
Tomato – 1 chopped
·
Turmeric powder (haldi) – ½ tea spoon
·
Garam masala powder – ½ table spoon
·
Mutard seeds(sarso) – 1 table spoon
·
Cumin seeds – ½ table spoon
·
Curry leaves – 6 to 7
·
Garlic cloves – 5 to 6
·
Asafetida powder (hing) – 1 pinch
·
Red chili – 1
·
Chili powder – 2 table spoon
·
Salt as per taste
·
Oil – 3 table spoon
·
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 table spoon
How to make Restaurant style Dal fry recipe
with step by step photos -
Method -
1)
Rinse the lentils(toor dal) and add them to
pressure cooker. Pour 3 cups water in the cooker, add turmeric powder.
2)
Pressure cook the lentils for about 3 whistles
or more till lentils become soft. Here I made 3 whistles. Allow the steam to
escape before opening the lid. Open the lid and stir cooked lentils with spoon.
3)
Preparation of tempering – heat oil in pan,
firstly add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds are crackled, add cumin seed
(jeera), curry leaves, red chili, garlic cloves, asafetida(hing) and saute for
a minute.
4)
Then add chopped onion and saute till onion
becomes translucent. Then add tomato, saute it till tomato becomes soft.
5)
Then add cooked toor dal/arhar dal. Add water if
necessary to make medium consistency.
6)
Don’t add more water to make thin consistency,
it spoils the taste of dal fry recipe.
7)
Add chili powder, garam masala powder, salt and
boil it on medium flame.
8)
Lastly add chopped coriander leaves( dhania).
Our Dal fry recipe is

simple rice
